The Open Way - both our evidence informed approach to learning and our simple effective behaviour policy (be ready, be respectful and be safe), describes our shorthand for how we do things here and has become embedded over the last couple of years..
We are a ‘values driven’ Academy and our purpose and vision statements, available on this website, highlight our commitment to delivering a constantly improving education through our Christian values. In this small inspirational community, where we pride ourselves on getting to know all our students as individuals and we see everyone who is part of our community as a blessing. We do all we can to support and encourage all in our care and to know all our students as individuals.
Now in my fourth year as Principal here at Open, I am delighted to say that despite the challenges the last couple of years have brought, we have continued to focus on constantly improving the education we deliver.
Innovations such as Knowledge Organisers, now available for all students in key stage 3, our radical 'internship program' at key stage 4 and our guilds program in the summer term all show how we do all we can to meet the needs and interests of our students. Indeed, our use of TEAMS and Microsoft Classnote for homework for all students has led to us being accredited as one of only 50 Microsoft Showcase Schools in the country.
With a fully redrafted and broadened curriculum and results increasing annually, it is clear that students are making better and better progress over time with us,
Open Academy is a fantastic place to learn. My experiences of Open Academy inspired me to join it and it is a pleasure to work here, I hope that as you get to know us, you will feel inspired too.
