Sport BTEC Level 3

The exciting link with Sheringham Football Club (SFC) allows us to develop the best 16- 19 year old's into high performing footballers either with Sheringham or beyond. Our coach and former professional footballer, Cedric Anselin brings both experience and knowledge to our course to ensure students improve as footballers for the next stage of their careers. The coaching students receive is combined with BTEC Level 3 Sport course, allowing students the chance to receive both footballing tuition and academic qualifications.

BTEC Sport Aims and Objectives
BTEC Sport builds on courses that students may have studied at Key Stage 4 and develops understanding ready for Higher Education. It aims to -
Develop and prepare students for life outside education linking anatomy and physiology, fitness training, sports injury management, sports business and professional development alongside many more sections linked to the sporting world.
Inspire and nurture talented footballers through our link with Sheringham Football Club in both academic teaching and practical coaching.

BTEC Sport
Two courses are offered –
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate (Equivalent to one A-Level)
This course is 360 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), in which 4 units are completed of which 3 are mandatory and two are exams. This course can also be upgraded to the Diploma in Sport (Equivalent to two A-Levels)
The units covered are: Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness training and programming, Professional development in the sports industry, plus one unit decided at the start of the course to suit the needs and interests of the group.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (Equivalent to three A-Levels)
The units covered are
Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness training and programming, Professional development in the sports industry, Sports leadership, Practical sports performance, Coaching for performance, Research methods in sport
Development and provision in sport and physical activity, Investigating business in sport and the active leisure industry, Skills acquisition in sport.

Where does it lead?
Students can progress to higher education on full degrees, for example:
• BA (Hons) in Sports Development and Management
• BSc (Hons) Sports Business Management
• BSc (Hons) Sport and Leisure Management
• BSc (Hons) in Exercise, Health and Fitness
• BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Psychology
