Building the Academy

The Open Academy will move into new purpose built accommodation in September 2010. The outline design has been chosen to reflect the ethos of the school enabling us to hold full school assemblies in our unique Open Forum. Learning zones are designed to support all learners of different abilities and each student will be given a laptop to enable them to work at home as well as at school. The outside space has been designed as a classroom to support our environmental approach. The building itself will be able to be ‘read’ by students and staff alike to see how it is responding to different weather and how much energy it is using.
We are very keen to involve students in the design process and workshops are planned.
